FLOGAS FLEET DVS COMPLIANT FOR CAPITAL’S SAFETY SCHEME
As a supplier of Liquified Petroleum Gas solutions to businesses and homes 365 days a year, the Flogas fleet operates across England, Scotland and Wales.
With the introduction of Direct Vision Standard (DVS) regulations to the Greater London roads on March 1 this year, Flogas needed the latest additions to their fleet to be DVS compliant, whilst operating in the Greater London Area.
RS Connect supplied and fitted the required “Safe Systems” to Flogas’s 15 new Scania S450 Tractor units, which included Blind spot cameras, side scan sensors, turn left alarm and seven-inch LCD Monitors. Although this was principally to comply with the DVS regulations, the systems installed also satisfy the FORS Silver certification, without the need to add any additional equipment.
Flogas Britain is part of DCC plc, and have more UK depots than any other LPG supplier. Flogas Britain developed as a national supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) through a series of acquisitions starting with the purchase of Portagas in 1984, followed by Alta Gas in 2001, British Gas LPG in 2002 and Countrywide LPG plc. in 2018.
DVS aims to make the capital’s streets safer by requiring all HGVs over 12 tonnes to obtain a safety permit. The scheme measures how much an HGV driver can see through their cab windows and aims to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on London’s transport network by 2041.
